I did it!

Today was my 5K and I ran the whole race! My goal! I haven’t been able to run 3.1 miles since the first time I did it in my neighborhood because of time, weather, and sickness. So for only my second time ever it was a great race. Plus, I ran it a little more than 10 minutes faster! My time was 35.37 minutes, I was so excited to see that I had made it in the 30 minute mark. So from 46 minutes to 35.37 minutes that is pretty good. Now when I go back to running in my neighborhood, I’m going to feel so slow! Just kidding! I can’t wait to do my next race!

Poor Danny missed me twice. He thought I had already passed him on the course, and then he didn’t get to see me finish because he didn’t know where it finished! Oh well, next time!

I’m just thankful that God allowed me to complete the race. I had quite a few sickness and weather set backs, but he sustained me and I had a great time!

Plus, I had a great coach!

So what’s new?

There isn’t too much going on around here lately. Bentley and I have been at home since Wednesday battling colds. We have a very busy month ahead of us so we need to make sure that we are completely over it! November was a busy month for us last year too. We had Danny’s parents in, then we went to Cherokee, and the next day my family arrived for Thanksgiving. Well, it’s happening again this year. Danny’s parents are coming in for a long weekend, then we are going to Tennessee for a week for Danny’s work, then my family is coming in for Thanksgiving! The month is going to fly by.

Other exciting news Bentley has got his first chompers. Almost two weeks ago now, his first tooth popped through, now he has a second one popping through. It looks funny. I tried to get a good picture but it was hard! Here is the best I got. He’s dirty because he just finished eating.

We are enjoying beautiful weather here. Yesterday, we sat out on the back porch doing a puzzle and Bentley playing in his super yard. We almost ate dinner out there but as the sun was setting the temperature was dropping fast. Today is blue sky and 60 degrees. It’s going to be so cold during the 5k, it’s at 9AM. At 9AM this morning in was 42 degrees out!!!

Here’s Bentley in his play yard:

Well, I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day!

Oh, in cooking news I baked my first rolls and bread with rice, potato, tapioca flours. They were a little different in texture but didn’t taste too bad. Danny didn’t mind the texture. They were really dense. So, I’m going to have to try again soon!

5k count down…. 10 days!

Well, last night I did it. I ran 3.1 miles. It took me a little over 42 minutes, but that’s okay. I did it! My goal for the race is to finish, without walking. So I have a comfortable week to train and make that happen. Whoo woo! I have to say that running is an addictive sport/ activity. I crave the days that I run. It’s been a lot of fun. I can’t wait until the race even though I am getting a little nervous!

If anyone has any suggestions on how to get the nasty sweat smell out of my running clothes it would be much appreciated! Gross I know! What can I say I’m a sweat-er!

The 5K Count Down… 23 days!

Here we go. 23 days until our run downtown. I’m getting excited. Unfortunately, I am a month behind (of my schedule– another way God has shown my that my plans aren’t His!). I was hoping to already be running 3.1 miles by now, but because of rain and Bentley being sick I haven’t run for three weeks. Yesterday I ran the most I have ever run, a little over a mile and a half — with Bentley in the jogging stroller. So, I am where I was at last month at this time. Which is good. I was afraid that I was going to be set back a lot. So, this is a way of keeping myself accountable to run. I’ve posted it and now people know and can ask me if I am staying on top of my training! Hopefully, since I do run with a jogging stroller I’ve built up some extra endurance. Well, I’ll keep up with the count down! Thanks for following!

What a week…

Well, this has been an week of surprises!

Sunday after church I actually went grocery shopping. That is not a normal occurance and it won’t ever be. But, we had plans for Monday and we needed food for Tuesday so…I went shopping. Between, Bloom, Publix and CVS I spent $104 for two weeks of groceries, but the best part is that I saved $158! I saved more than I spent! Woo Whoo! Some of the things that I bought were: 5 lbs of chicken breast BOGO, 4 lbs of ground beef BOGO, 6 boxes of Barilla pasta BOGO plus $2 off 6 boxes, 2 Glade Scented Oils plus 4 packages of refills all for $2.75! I made $.45 on Smart Balance Butter! Couponing and buying sales is worth it.

We had a fun Monday because Danny was off. Bentley and I enjoyed hanged out with him and the Johnsons. Dave and Danny played with Danny’s keyboard while Becky and I hung out with the kids and talked sewing! It was a lot of fun.

Wednesday came around and I had childcare and snacks for Care Group. I made a few things, but the surpising thing was that it was all eaten! Yay! Another good thing about Wednesday was… I actually ran around my neighborhood with out stopping, it took me about 18 minutes!

Thursday I made some bibs for friends and family. I’m still working on some of the designs. That evening Bentley came down with a fever.

Friday morning his temp was 103F so I took him to the doctor. Poor baby has strep throat. He is so sad when he’s sick. Today he is doing much better, he’s on antibiotics, but his fever is gone. He’s crawling and playing again yesterday he just laid there sucking his thumb.

And we will see what tomorrow brings… that has been a quick update of our week.

We’ll see how next week falls into place, since I have no grocery shopping to do and we start a little co-op!
