Playing catch up…

As you can see, I’ve done a lot of posting today. I want to get caught up so I can start fresh next week. The last couple of weeks I have been able to learn new things. Like cooking from scratch is not that hard, working with our new budget, the wonderful world of couponing, becoming friends with my new care group, that God cares about the “little things”, and ways to be a better wife and mother.

I am having so much fun learning more about cooking. One of the things that really encouraged me was my friend Ann. She cooks many things from scratch. Things just taste better.

The new budget has been a long time in the making. Well, it’s finally here and it works. I am having fun figuring out how to stretch a dollar. Especially with all the couponing deals at Publix, CVS and Walgreens.

I love our new care group. We have a such a wonderful time in the short amount of time being there. We had a great discussion about hormones last Wednesday. More to come about that.

It’s so much fun learning about God and what He cares about. I love this life, but I am looking forwar to the next life too.

Each day it is a wonderful time when Danny gets home. For one, my husband is home and two Bentley just loves to hear the door unlock and start perking up to see where Daddy is. I love it. It’s probably my favorite time of the day. God has so richly blessed my life with these two boys!

Here are some silly pictures of Bentley from yesterday, waiting for Danny to get home. He is growing up so fast. I love his sweet soft little face.

Here is a slide show of my lastest projects in the kitchen!

A Walk in the Park

Last Saturday it was so nice out, that we decided to go for a walk in the park. Bentley enjoyed his first time in a swing. He was skeptical at first, but enjoyed it. He also puked after we stopped swinging him. Sorry Buddy! Here are some pictures from the evening. Oh, we saw two large wild turkey… and no we weren’t looking in a mirror!

The Morning Training Run

Me, after this morning’s run — gross I know!

Well, I am training for a 5k in October. I have been running/jogging/walking for the past month. I actually do enjoy it, and I even had a dream about it. I really can’t believe how much I have grown to enjoy running. One of the main reasons that I wanted to do this was perseverance. It’s so easy to start things and not follow through. God has really convicted me of this lately and I am trying, with much grace, to get better at “keep on keepin’ on.” Running has been one outlet for this, there are many areas of my life that this applies to.

One of the things that I love about training in the morning is that I get to take in God’s creation. I love being able to smell the dew and honeysuckles. I get to see the Morning Glories and watch the sunrise. The birds are chirping and an occasional rooster greeting the day. Running has taken me out of the house to drink in the goodness of God; not only in remaining faithful to run, but I get to see His creation and thank Him for it.

This morning’s run was probably my hardest. I have started my lovely feminine gift of menstruating again since the birth of my son. So, I was bloated, tired and had a headache. I did have to stop to walk in my last set, but I figured I haven’t ever done that yet, so it would be okay.

Here is what this weeks training workout looked like:
Warm-up 5 minute walk
Run 3 mins
Walk 1-1/2 minutes
Run 5 mins
Walk 2-1/2 minutes
Run 3 minutes
Walk 1-1/2 minutes
Run 5 minutes
Cool Down Walk (back to the house)

Next week it changes everyday. So stay tuned to see how I do…

Here are some pictures from my walk yesterday morning:

I’m so glad the sun is shining!

I love the cloudy rainy days and I’m so glad that we had them, but I love that the sun is shining! The rain brought some pesky visitors. Ants… and not just any ants… fire ants (we have tons of them all over the yard). Thankfully, Danny and Bentley haven’t be bitten, but I have at least two bites. I get swollen, itchy sores that ooze. Gross, I know. That is why I am glad that the sun is drying out their little homes so I can hopefully have my home to myself again! Because they have made their way on to the carpeted areas, we took a little trip to Lowe’s to buy some pesticide for outside and inside the house. So ants be gone!

God is an amazing Creator!

This morning while on my jog I was amazed by the beautiful cool morning. The air was a little damp but I could smell the honeysuckles. (I wanted to pick some but was afraid that I might bring in something poisonous too, since I don’t know what poison ivy or any of those plants look like.)

Then while preparing Bentley’s rice cereal I saw a humming bird at our feeder. They are so small and fascinating to me. I love to watch how fast they move and their long little tongues drink up sugar water! Another amazing creation by God.

After putting Bentley down for his nap, I turned on the Olympics and watched Rythmic Gymnastics. Man! They are so flexible and it got me thinking about our bodies and how amazing they are. Some people can twist and turn their bodies in some crazy postions, some people can pop their eyeballs out of socket, some people have armspans longer than the length of their bodies (Michael Phelps), some people are deaf, women can have babies and the list can go on and on. It’s unbelievable to think that we are created in the image of God. God has created so many things wonderful things! I’m so thankful that I get to enjoy them!

Busy in the Kitchen

Today was a busy cooking day. I decided that I was going to make bread and two different spaghetti sauces from scratch. What fun!! I love to cook and have fun in the kitchen. As I was sauteing the base for the sauce I was grateful that God created smells and food. It smelled so fragrant! It made me feel like the people on tv that say, “ahh, that smells so good!” and to think I actually made it! Tonight we will find out if the fresh tomato sauce is any good. I couldn’t wait to taste the bread. It smelled way too good and there is nothing like fresh warm bread! Later this week, I will be making Tagliatella alla Bolognese and Lasagne alla Bolognese with the Bolognese sauce (basically a meat sauce with pancetta, pork and beef). To make these dishes I am also going to try and make my own pasta… we will see how that goes!!
